Internationally Renowned Gerontologist Visits Area April 12

BOONE–“The Seven Great Myths of Aging” is the topic internationally renowned gerontologist Dr. Vern L. Bengtson will discuss during an April 12 presentation at Appalachian Brian Estates.

The University of Southern California professor’s presentation begins at 7 p.m. The public is invited.

Bengtson is chair of USC’s gerontology department and past president of the Gerontology Society of America. A recognized scholar in social gerontology, his research has focused on families and aging in the context of social change. Bengtson’s longitudinal study of generations, begun in the 1960s, has followed four generations of people as they pass through various life stages.

Bengtson will share personal reflections from his 35 years of research on aging, as well as personal experiences.
