There is no admission charge and the public is welcome.Harmonia Baroque, a faculty ensemble within the music school, performs music from the European Baroque highlighted by performance on historical instruments and reproductions of instruments from the 18th century.

The ensemble is one of the few groups in Western North Carolina performing on instruments for which Baroque music was written.

The core group of flute, oboe, cello, and harpsichord expands for a concert event that includes mezzo-soprano, tenor, natural horn, and a reconstructed historical violin.

The sound and style of the music of composers such as Bach, Leclair, Telemann, Purcell, and Handel is recreated in an intimate atmosphere for a true chamber experience.

The faculty ensemble features Brian Bailey, harpsichord; Nancy Bargerstock, violin; Alicia Chapman, oboe; Kenneth Lurie, cello; Nancy Schneeloch, flute; Randall Outland, tenor; Priscilla Peebles, mezzo-soprano; Karen Robertson Smith, horn.

The faculty will perform Telemann’s “Trietto No. 2″ from “III Trietti metodichi,” Handel’s “Va Tacito” from “Guilio Cesare” and works by Bach, Scarlatti and Couperin.

The Faculty Recital Series is sponsored by High Country Bank of Boone.
