Playcrafters Present “New Play Festival” Nov. 29 – Dec. 2

BOONE — Playcrafters, Appalachian State University’s student theatre organization, will present the annual New Play Festival from Nov. 29 – Dec. 2 in I.G. Greer Arena Theatre on campus.

Tickets are $3 and available weekdays from 2 – 5 p.m. in the Valborg Theatre Box Office.

The New Play Festival showcases plays written by new writers.

Students, faculty and members of the community submit their works to Playcrafters for consideration. A committee reviews the works and Appalachian’s Department of Theatre and Dance and Alpha Psi Omega, the National Theatre Honors Society, announce selections.

This year’s plays are: “For the People” by J.C. Farrell, starring Daryl Walker, Scott Hoppman and Rebecca Coffey; “Jesus Loves Me” by Maeve McAuliffe, starring Carmen Watson, Hunter Thore, Catherine Ryan and Jessica Pearson with Sharon Pinney directing and Andrea Gilkey as stage manager; and “When Push Comes to Shove (Time)” by Nicholas Myrai, starring Bryan Crossan, Kiehl Smit, Jen Allman, Jessica Kaufman and Shelby Jennings with Noah Jones directing and Brad Evans as stage manager.
