Gerald C. Adams of Boone, nine-year director of Appalachian State University’s Yosef Club, has received the University Advancement Outstanding Performance Award.

The Outstanding Performance Award recognizes University Advancement staff members for outstanding attitude, teamwork, initiative, creativity, hard work and going beyond the call of duty.

“[Adams] is a 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week ambassador for Appalachian. He is a wonderful example of a team member, coordinating very closely with other university areas,” said a colleague.

“I believe that many of our donors give to Appalachian because they recognize Adam’s genuine affection for the university and because they know that he represents the type of student that Appalachian strives to produce—honest, hard working, enthusiastic, wise and caring,” wrote another.

Adams received his bachelors of science and masters of education degrees from Appalachian.

He has served on the Alumni Council, including a term as president of the Alumni Association.

He served on the university’s Board of Visitors (1973-79) and was president of the Former Athletes Association (1991-92). He received the alumni association’s Outstanding Performance Award in 1983.
