Lovins Named Associate Vice Chancellor for Administration at Appalachian

BOONE — Gregory M. Lovins of Boone has been named associate vice chancellor for administration at Appalachian State University.

The associate vice chancellor for administration reports directly to the vice chancellor for business affairs and is responsible for administrative oversight of the university’s budget office, controller’s office, purchasing department, warehousing operations, safety and workers’ compensation office, systems and special projects and the university post office.

Lovins was director of internal audits at Appalachian from May 1998 to November 2000.

Lovins graduated from Appalachian in 1994 with a master’s degree in business administration.

He earned his undergraduate degree from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1981.

He was director of internal audits at UNC-Charlotte from 1995-98,

an associate of Philpott, Ball and Company investment bankers from 1994-95 and director of special funds accounting at Appalachian from 1988-94.

Lovins is a certified public accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants.

He is the son of Marvin and Sarah Lovins of Lenoir. Lovins and his wife, Claudine, have two children: Caroline and Mary.
