Jazz Vocal Ensemble Performs April 23

BOONE–If you have a favorite jazz song, chances are it’s on the program for the April 23 concert by Appalachian State University’s Jazz Vocal Ensemble.

The free concert begins at 8 p.m. in Rosen Concert Hall.

The evening starts swinging with “Everybody’s Boppin'” by Jon Hendricks. Other jazz standards are “Lullaby of Birdland,” “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love,” “One Note Samba,” “Spring is Here” and “Stolen Moments.” “Triste” by Antonio Calos Jabim and “What a Wonderful World” by George Douglas round out the program.

The vocal ensemble is directed by the School of Music’s Todd Wright. Accompanists are Roby Grossi, piano, John Grubb, bass, and Shirazette Tinnin, drums.
