Jazz Ensembles Close Spring Semester with Swinging Concert

BOONE — Jazz Ensembles I

and II will perform April 26 at 8 p.m. in Appalachian State University’s Rosen Concert Hall. The groups are among the performing ensembles in the School of Music.

Jazz Ensemble I, directed by Todd Wright, will perform favorites such as “Time After Time” by Jule Styne, “Incredible Journey” by Bob Mintzer, “A Time for Love” by Johnny Mandel and “Groove Merchant” by Jerome Richardson.

Eric Unsworth directs Jazz Ensemble II. The program includes Duke Ellington’s “It Don’t Mean a Thing,” Count Basie’s “Jumpin’ at the Woodside,” Charles Mingus’ “Jelly Roll” and Josef Zawinul’s “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy.”

Admission is free.
