Appalachian Brass Ensembles and Faculty Brass Quintet Perform April 24

BOONE–Guest trumpeter Robert Nagel joins the Appalachian Brass Ensembles and Appalachian Faculty Brass Quintet for an April 24 concert at Appalachian State University.

The performance begins at 8 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall. Admission is free. Call 262-3020 for more information.

Nagel is a professor emeritus from Yale University and considered father of modern brass quintet. He founded the New York Brass Quintet, and co-founded the

International Trumpet Guild.

The program includes “Hymn to the Fallen” by John Williams, Telemann’s “Allegro for Six Trumpets,” “Eternal Father Strong to Save,” arranged by Hayes School of Music Dean William G. Harbinson and “Trombone Octet” by Jacob.
