Chamber Music for Winds Performed Oct. 31

An evening of chamber music for wind instruments will be presented Thursday, Oct. 31, at 8 p.m. in Appalachian State University’s Rosen Concert Hall.

The free concerts features students from the Hayes School of Music.

The program begins with Vivaldi’s “Concerto Grosso.” The ensemble “Blazing Bassoons” will play Gounod’s “Funeral March of a Marionette.”

Also on the program are Persichetti’s “Pastorale, Op.21″ and Joseph Haydn’s “Quintet.”

Works by Danzi, Milhaud, Poulenc and Bach also will be performed.

George Gershwin’s “Rialto Ripples” concludes the performance.
