Collins to Serve as President of Alumni Council

BOONE–Jeannine Underdown Collins of Boone has been selected president of Appalachian State University’s Alumni Council. Her one-year term expires in October 2003.

As president of the alumni council, Collins will be an ex officio member of the university’s Board of Trustees.

Collins is president of Underdown and Associates Inc. Real Estate Appraisers.

Collins was the alumni council’s vice president in 2001-02 and secretary in 2000-01. She has been a member of the council’s awards and Mountaineer Volunteer Program committees, and chaired the Homecoming committee in 1999. She received an Outstanding Service Award in 1996 from the Alumni Council. Collins also is former president of Appalachian’s Yosef Club.

Collins is a member of the Athletics Council, NCAA Recertification Committee-Gender Equality, Yosef Club Boone Area Chamber of Commerce and Boone United Methodist Church.

The Alumni Council represents the 78,000 members of the alumni association, serves as an alumni advisory board for the university and promotes and supports all alumni activities. The council sponsors the Outstanding Service and the Distinguished Alumni awards, and the alumni memorial scholarship, and supports regional alumni chapters and various homecoming activities.
