Project Helps Bring Christmas to Area Children

120602santa_dl.jpgBOONE–Members of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity at Appalachian State University raised $500 for Staff Council’s Give a Child a Christmas project.

For 22 years, faculty, staff and students have contributed to the project in which underprivileged children are taken on a shopping trip for clothes and other necessities. The children also are treated to breakfast and lunch. Local business owners provide gifts and discounts to the children.

Staff Council hopes to take 84 children shopping Dec. 13. So far $5,000 has been collected toward a $10,000 goal.

Anyone interested in contributing to the project can send check payable to the ASU Staff Council in care of James Hayes, ASU Bookstore, Boone, NC 28608.
