Schoenfeldt Named Acting Dean of Appalachian’s Walker College of Business

schoen.jpgBOONE–Lyle F. Schoenfeldt has been named acting dean of Appalachian State University’s Walker College of Business.

Schoenfeldt is replacing Kenneth E. Peacock who has been named interim provost at Appalachian for the 2003-04 academic year.

Schoenfeldt came to Appalachian in 1996 to chair the Department of Management in the Walker College of Business. He has taught courses in international business, management, strategic human resource management and compensation management.

He is a co-author of the textbook “Human Resource Management” published by Houghton Mifflin.

Schoenfeldt has been a leader of the business college’s exchange program with Fudan University in Shanghai, China, since 1997.

He was the Marie B. Oth Professor of Business from 1994-1996, the Ernest and Dorothy Niederer Professor of Business Administration from 1989-1994. He was head of the Department of Management at Texas A&M from 1981-1985, director of the CBA Fellows Program from 1982-1994, and an E.D. Brockett Faculty Fellow from 1986-1990, all at Texas A&M University.

He also has held teaching and administrative posts at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the University of Georgia.

Schoenfeldt earned a Ph.D. and M.S. degree from Purdue University and a B.A. from Case Western Reserve University.
