Campus and Community Groups Host Progressive Issues Fair April 2

BOONE–The Greens, a campus political organization, along with other student and community organizations, will host a progressive issues fair, “Giving Voice To Vision: Building Our Progressive Community,” Friday, April 2, from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Legends on the Appalachian State University campus. All activities are free and open to the public.

The fair will include information tables, a Voter Registration Drive and an opportunity for participating groups to share their purpose, goals and upcoming events.

The event is designed to bring progressive political, social, environmental and humanitarian groups within the community together for a festive educational gathering.

Participating organizations include: Amnesty International, Appalachian Coalition for Just and Sustainable Communities, Boone Area NOW (National Organization for Women), Code Pink Boone, College Democrats, High Country Friends of Kucinich, Men Against Rape, People for Animal Liberation, Progressive Democrats of North Carolina, rise up! community collective, Boone Sustainable Transportation Club, ASU/Watauga County Green Party, Dances of Universal Peace, High Country Peace and Justice, Turtle Island Preserve, ASU H.E.M.P. (Help End Marijuana Prohibition) Club, Carolina Farm Stewardship Association, NARAL Pro-Choice ASU and New River Earth Institute.

There is still time for interested groups to take part in the event. The deadline for submitting reservation and sponsorship forms is Wednesday, March 31 to be included in the fair.
