Dennis Kucinich to Speak at ASU

BOONE–Rep. Dennis Kucinich will speak from 7:45-8:45 a.m. Saturday, April 3, in Rosen Concert Hall on the campus of Appalachian State University in Boone. His talk is sponsored by the Greens, a campus political organization, along with other student and community organizations.

Rep. Kucinich is one of two remaining contenders in the Democratic presidential primary contest. Kerry and Kucinich are the only candidates remaining in the Democratic primary.

Kucinich remains in the race in order to influence the Democratic Party platform, he says. “Even though the nomination may be decided, why should millions of Democrats in the remaining 16 voting areas be denied a chance to affect the direction of our party?”

Sixteen primaries remain in which voters can register their concerns about peace, universal health care, the Patriot Act, trade policies and environmental protections, he said.

Kucinich’s talk is free and open to the public. For more information contact Maria Lichtmann at or 264-4071, or Lumini Merced at 262-0166.
