Math Camp Offered for Middle Grades and High School Students in June

BOONE–The 7th annual Math Camp will be held in June at Appalachian State University.

Basic Algebra Camp will be held June 14-17 and Geometry-Algebra II Camp will be held June 21-24.

The camps are designed for students entering 6th-12th grade. Cost is $95 for each camp. Space is limited to 90 participants for each camp.

The camp is led by Dr. Anita Kitchens, a member of Appalachian’s math faculty and author of the book “Defeating Math Anxiety.”

The camp is designed for students who hate or fear math, as well as those who excel at and love the subject.

Working with math coaches, students work as a team to solve problems and improve their math skills.

The camp meets on the third floor of Walker Hall from 6-9 p.m. Registration begins at 4:30 p.m. on the first day of each camp. Parents should plan to attend an informational session at 5:30 p.m. on the day of registration.
