Williams Named Acting Associate Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Services

072204williams_dl.jpgBOONE–Harry L. Williams has been named acting associate vice chancellor for enrollment services at Appalachian State University. He also will continue in his role as associate vice chancellor for diversity at Appalachian, a position he has held since July 2002.

” Dr. Williams’ experience with student recruitment and admissions practices here at Appalachian and at North Carolina A&T will help ensure that the university maintains its focus of recruiting a diverse and talented student body,” said Chancellor Kenneth E. Peacock. “I am honored that Dr. Williams has accepted to serve our university in this position. He loves this institution and he will do a great job.”

Williams began his career in Appalachian’s Office of Admissions in 1988 as an assistant director and was named associate director of enrollment services in 1993.

He was interim director of admissions at North Carolina A&T State University from 2000-02. At NC A&T, Williams was responsible for managing a half million dollar state budget and the institution’s comprehensive strategic enrollment and developing and implementing marketing plans for the university. He also supervised 23 support and professional staff members in the Office of Admissions.

Williams holds a B.S. in communication, an M.A. in educational media, and an Ed.S. in higher education from Appalachian and an Ed. D. in educational leadership and policy analysis from East Tennessee State University.
