Living Learning Center Quilt

120904quilt_dl.jpgAbout 20 students in Appalachian State University’s Living Learning Center worked all semester to create a 6-by-8 foot string quilt that now hangs in the center’s lobby. A grant from Appalachian’s Parents’ Association was used to purchase the materials. The students, many first-time quilters, received instruction from B.R. Hoffman with the Living Learning Center and The Quilt Shop in Boone. Among those contributing a square to the quilt are, from left, student Matthew Haney, staff member B.R. Hoffman, student Ricky Hargrave, faculty member Betsy Beaulieu, Watauga College Director Lee Williams, staff member Joan Meixell and faculty member Harriette Buchanan.
