d05_11bryan06.jpgJim Bryan, right, head of landscape services at Appalachian State University, and members of Appalachian’s grounds crew have been recognized for their work to keep campus walkways navigable during inclement weather. The university’s 2005 “Resource Guide for Students with Disabilities” was dedicated to Bryan and the grounds crew in recognition of their exemplary service, positive attitude, cooperative spirit and outstanding helpfulness with members of the campus community who have disabilities. The resource guide provides information to students, faculty and staff regarding the most current practices associated with the variety of disabilities a student may present while pursuing her or his academic career at Appalachian. Recommended accommodations, strategies, methods, and techniques for specific disabilities are discussed, along with the most current information on all federal and state laws governing the disability area.
