Annotated bibliography guides users of Appalachian’s Rhinehart collection

Rhinehart book collection.jpgBOONE—An annotated bibliography of the Rhinehart collection has been published by Appalachian State University’s Belk Library and Information Commons.

The bibliography documents the collection of rare books focusing on British history that Bill and Maureen Rhinehart of New York donated to the library’s special collections.

Bill Rhinehart earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Appalachian.

Dr. John Higby, a professor emeritus from Appalachian, compiled this bibliography to provide researchers with an understanding of various aspects of the books, including their physical state, place of origin, and notes on their authors, editors, and translators.

The collection is housed on the library’s fourth floor, and is available for researchers by appointment. Contact Dr. Hal Keiner, university archivist, for more information at or (828) 262-7424.

Five hundred copies of the bibliography have been printed, with plans to make the bibliography available through the library’s Web site as a virtual catalog. For more information on the Rhinehart collection, visit
