Campus leaders to receive Plemmons Leadership Medallion

BOONE— Each year, Appalachian State University recognizes its outstanding campus leaders by presenting them with the W.H. Plemmons Leadership Medallion.

Crandall, a professor in the Walker College of Business at Appalachian State University, has had his book “New Methods of Competing in the Global Marketplace: Critical Success Factors from Service and Manufacturing” published by CRC Press, a division of Taylor and Francis Group.

Appalachian joins national effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and protect the environment

signature_t.jpgBOONE—Appalachian State University has joined more than 500 universities, colleges and community colleges in pledging to implement a comprehensive plan to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions 80 percent by the year 2050.

Annual Department of Biology greenhouse sale begins April 29

BOONE—The Department of Biology Greenhouse at Appalachian State University will hold its 28th annual spring plant sale on Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon until 6 p.m., beginning April 29 and continuing through May 15 or until sold out.

Pombo receives Southern States Communication Association’s Outstanding Young Educator Award

Lavender graduation reception held May 9 at Appalachian

BOONE—A lavender graduation reception will be held May 9 at 3 p.m. in Plemmons Student Union’s Blue Ridge Ballroom at Appalachian State University. The event is sponsored by the university’s Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Taskforce, TransACTION and SAGA (Sexuality and Gender Alliance).

Student research celebrated April 24

BOONE — The 11th Annual Celebration of Student Research and Creative Endeavors at Appalachian State University will be held April 24 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Plemmons Student Union. It is sponsored by the Office of Student Research.

Fifth annual chair design competition held May 1 at Appalachian

BOONE—Students in Appalachian State University’s Department of Technology will compete in the Fifth Annual Berkline BenchCraft LLC Chair Design Competition Thursday, May 1, at the Broyhill Inn and Conference Center in Boone.

Festival at Appalachian celebrates works by contemporary composers

BOONE—Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia music fraternity at Appalachian State University presents the 39th annual Contemporary Music Festival April 20-25.

Concerts associated with the festival begin at 8 p.m. in Broyhill Music’s Rosen Concert Hall. Admission is free.
