Appalachian Concert Band performs April 30

BOONE—The Appalachian Concert Band performs April 30 at 8 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall at Appalachian State University. Admission is free.

Hammett-McGarry named president-elect of the Association of Deans and Directors of University Colleges

McGarry_t.jpgBOONE—Carter Hammett-McGarry, director of General Education at Appalachian State University, has been named president-elect of the Association of Deans and Directors of University Colleges (AD&D). She will be responsible for developing and managing the association’s program for the 2009 Annual Meeting in Savannah, Ga. She will be installed as the president of AD&D for 2009-10 at the meeting.

Appalachian’s Walker College of Business maintains AACSB accreditation

BOONE—Appalachian State University’s Walker College of Business has maintained its accreditation of its undergraduate and graduate business programs with the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The Walker College of Business has held AACSB accreditation since 1976.

Appalachian Guitar Ensemble performs April 27

BOONE—Douglas James directs the Appalachian Guitar Ensemble in an April 27 concert at Appalachian State University. The performance begins at 8 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall. Admission is free.

Appalachian to test its emergency notification system April 24

BOONE— Appalachian State University will test its emergency notification system during the afternoon of Thursday, April 24.

Festival at Appalachian celebrates works by contemporary composers

BOONE—Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia music fraternity at Appalachian State University presents the 39th annual Contemporary Music Festival April 20-25.

Concerts associated with the festival begin at 8 p.m. in Broyhill Music’s Rosen Concert Hall. Admission is free.
