Appalachian’s brass ensembles perform Dec. 1

BOONE—Brass ensembles from Appalachian State University’s Hayes School of Music will present a free concert Dec. 1. The program begins at 8 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall.

The Horn Choir, directed by Karen L. Robertson, will perform the overture from Mozart’s “The Magic Flute,” Orlando di Lasso’s “Echo Song” and Gracian Baban’s “Voce Mea ad Dominum.”

The Trumpet Choir, directed by James Stokes, will perform Ronald LoPresti’s “An Overture and a Finale,” Henri Tomasi’s “Suite pour trois Trompetes” and Benjamin Britten’s “Fanfare for St. Edmundsbury.”

The program concludes with the Trombone Choir performing Thom Ritter George’s “Aria and Dance,” Morten Lauridsen’s “O Magnum Mysterium,” “Fantasy” on Fantasy on Martin Luther’s “Ein Feste Burg,” “Amazing Grace” and a Christmas medley. The choir is directed by Joseph Brown.
