Summer abroad program offered in international entrepreneurship

Alicanteharbor_t.jpgBOONE—Students interested in international entrepreneurship can enroll in a summer study abroad trip to Alicante, Spain, offered by Appalachian State University’s Department of Management.

Students will spend 13 days in the Costa Blanca region on Spain’s Mediterranean coast, including five days at the University of Alicante.

Students will work with Spanish and other European students to work on business plans. The course will include lectures on entrepreneurship, business plan development, and issues in international business. Spanish proficiency and prior knowledge in entrepreneurship not required.

“Students will gain experiences working with students from another culture, and visiting foreign companies and business incubators,” said trip leader Dr. Rachel Shinnar.

The trip dates are June 30 – July 13. Cost is $1,600 plus airfare and tuition for the three-credit hour course. For more information, contact Shinnar at 828-262-7314 or
