Woodwind ensembles featured in April 1 performance

BOONE—Woodwind ensembles from the Hayes School of Music at Appalachian State University will perform April 1 at 8 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall. Admission is free.

The ensemble Blazing Bassoons will perform “Classic Oldies,” an arrangement that includes “Ain’t She Sweet,” “Blue Moon” and “Fascinating Rhythm.” A flute and piccolo ensemble will perform Ben Boone’s “Over the Edge.”

An oboe and horn trio will perform Vivaldi’s “Sonata in G minor.” An oboe, clarinet and bassoon trio will perform Jacques Ibert’s “Cinq Pièces en Trio.” A flute trio will perform “Flutes in the Garden” by Gary Schocker.

The program concludes with Ludwig Thuille’s “Sextet in B flat major, op. 6” performed by a woodwind and piano ensemble.
