BFA Senior Studio Exhibition: Fall 2010 presented at Appalachian

BOONE—Catherine J. Smith Gallery at Appalachian State University’s Farthing Auditorium presents the BFA Senior Studio Exhibition: Fall 2010 Nov. 30-Dec. 10. A reception for the BFA Senior Studio Exhibition: Fall 2010 will be Friday, Dec. 10, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Catherine Smith Gallery. The event is free and open to the public.

Study shows resistance training benefits cardiovascular health

BOONE—Exercise – it will cure what ails you, or at least some of the most common ailments.

Research conducted in the College of Health Sciences’ Department of Health, Leisure and Exercise Science at Appalachian State University has shown that resistance training has some similar effects as aerobic exercise in lowering a person’s blood pressure.

Appalachian establishes educational exchange in Vietnam

Professor Bao Le Nguyen, center, vice provost and director of academic affairs at Duy Tan University in Vietnam, and Dr. Lorin Baumhover.jpgBOONE—Appalachian State University has signed a formal agreement with Duy Tan University (DTU) in Vietnam paving the way for student and faculty exchanges at both institutions.  The agreement was signed Nov. 19 by Dr. Lorin Baumhover, provost and interim executive vice chancellor at Appalachian, and Professor Bao Le Nguyen, vice provost and director of academic affairs at DTU.

Award-winning, student-written play to be presented Dec. 1-4

Lewandoski joins Appalachian’s Office of International Education and Development

ROTC Ranger Challenge team captures top honors

Alumnus helps rewrite N.C.’s paleontological record

Research conducted for an honors thesis when Mitchell was a senior at Appalachian State University expands on previous theories of how venomous fangs developed in an ancient reptile.
