Appalachian’s jazz ensembles perform April 12

BOONE—Celebrate April with the sounds of Appalachian State University’s Jazz Ensemble I and II from the Hayes School of Music.

The ensembles will present a free performance April 12 at 8 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall.

Jazz Ensemble I directed by Todd Wright will perform “Basically Blues” by Phil Wilson, “Hay Burner” by Sammy Nestico, “When You Go” by Ray Brown, “Boogie Stop Shuffle” by Charles Mingus and “April in Paris” by Harburg and Duke.

Rod Berry directs Jazz Ensemble II as they perform “Groove Merchant” by Thad Jones, “Pleasingly Plump” by Quincy Jones, “Elvin’s Mambo” by Bob Mintzer, “In a Pinch” by Maria Schneider and “It’s Just Talk” by Pat Metheny.
