The Department of Theatre and Dance presents Appalachian Actors Studio in June

BOONE – Appalachian State University’s Department of Theatre and Dance invites community members, faculty and students ages 18 and over to attend its Appalachian Actors Studio classes this June.

Classes are located in the Valborg Theatre every Monday from 7-8:30 p.m. Faculty from theatre and dance will present subjects such as auditions, musical theatre, improvisation and character movement during these series of classes. There is no cost to attend and registration is not necessary.

Classes include:

  • Audition Workshop, June 6, led by Derek Gagnier
  • Musical Theatre Dance, June 13, led by Dr. Ray Miller
  • Theatre Improvisation Games, June 20, led by Anna Ward
  • Theatrical Character Movement, June 27

The Department of Theatre and Dance offers academic programs for Bachelor of Arts degrees in dance studies and theatre arts and a Bachelor of Science in theatre arts education. Minors are offered in theatre or dance along with courses that may fulfill general education requirements. All theatre and dance programs at Appalachian are accredited by The National Association of Schools of Theatre, North Carolina Department of Public Instruction and National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education.
