Renowned military historian Jeremy Black visits Appalachian Nov. 2

black_t.jpgBOONE— Professor Jeremy Black of the University of Exeter will speak on “War, Technology, and the Rise of the West 1450-2050 Reconsidered” Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 7 p.m. in Room 114 Belk Library and Information Commons at Appalachian State University.

The program is free and the public is invited.

Black is one of the world’s leading historians. The author of more than 100 books, his contribution has been particularly important in the fields of military history, cartographic history and international relations.

His talk will address the historical background to the present-day balance of power in the world, the economics and politics of warfare and how technological innovation has altered war. He also will address shifts in international relations since the early modern era.
