Renewable energy workshops offered at Appalachian

BOONE—A series of workshops on renewable energy systems is bringing some of the nation’s top experts to Appalachian State University.

Writer David Madden presents reading Oct. 6 at Appalachian

madden_t.jpgBOONE—Fiction writer David Madden will read from his work Thursday, Oct. 6, at 7:30 p.m. in Plemmons Student Union’s Table Rock Room at Appalachian State University. A pre-reading reception for Madden will be held in the student union’s Multicultural Center from 6-7:15 p.m.

Appalachian’s Arts Management Organization presents “Exit through the Gift Shop”

BOONE—The Catherine J. Smith Gallery and the Arts Management Organization (AMO) at Appalachian State University will co-host a screening of the film “Exit through the Gift Shop” on Thursday, Oct. 6, at 8 p.m. in Belk Library and Information Commons in room 114. Admission is free and open to the public.

Sustainable Development celebrates 20th anniversary with Doc Watson and the Kruger Brothers

docwatson_t.jpgBOONE— Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award Winner Doc Watson will headline an Oct. 8 concert marking the 20th year of the Goodnight Family Sustainable Development Program at Appalachian State University. Watson will be accompanied by his grandson, Richard Watson, and friend Charles Welch.

Appalachian celebrates “A Month About YOU”

BOONE—Appalachian State University’s Counseling and Psychological Services will host events throughout October for “A Month to Celebrate YOU!”  All events are focused on self-esteem, self-acceptance and empowerment. The public is invited.

Noted children’s writer Deborah Wiles featured at Appalachian symposium

New River Brass Quintet performs Oct. 5 at Appalachian

BOONE—A program comprised of classical and contemporary compositions will be performed Oct. 5 by the New River Brass Quintet. The performance begins at 8 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall. Admission is free.

The High Country Triple Crown announces registration for The Knob and The Homecoming Challenge

BOONE – The BlueCross and BlueShield Institute for Health and Human Services (IHHS), within the College of Health Sciences at Appalachian State University, announces the opening of registration for The Knob and the brand new Homecoming Challenge.  All proceeds will benefit Girls on the Run of the High Country, a self-esteem building program for girls in the 3rd-5th grade.
