Annual BIG Sale event raises more than $21,000

BOONE—The annual BIG Sale event, held Aug. 17 at Appalachian State University, diverted 70 tons of material from landfills and raised more than $21,000 to support energy efficiency projects at three local nonprofits. Proceeds also will support scholarship funds at Appalachian.

Appalachian receives $297,529 grant to continue Pakistani schools exchange program

BOONE—Appalachian State University has received a second grant totaling $297,529 from the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan, to continue an exchange project between public schools in Watauga County and Taxila, Pakistan.
