Part of the Hayes School of Music, the Community Music School provides non-credit music instruction for children and adults in the local community as well as surrounding Western N.C. counties.

Instructors include faculty from Appalachian and area professionals who provide outstanding musical training.

“We are looking forward to beginning another year of instruction in violin, viola, cello, flute, trumpet, individual and group piano and studio percussion, as well as Suzuki and traditional guitar,” said CMS Interim Director Laura Chu Stokes. “Especially exciting is the new formation this year of the Watauga Youth Chorale, a community youth choir comprised of third through eighth grade students with unchanged voices.”
