Ramsdell receives excellence in teaching award

BOONE—Carla Ramsdell has received the Faculty Award for Excellence in General Education teaching from University College at Appalachian State University. She is a lecturer in the Department of Physics and Astronomy.

Margrif receives Brantz Award for Outstanding Teaching in First Year Seminar

BOONE—Trent Margrif has received the Rennie W. Brantz Award for Outstanding Teaching in First Year Seminar for 2013-14. Margrif is an adjunct instructor in the general education program.

BOONE—Fred Bahnson, a national advocate for deliberate living and mindful relationships with food, will give two public lectures April 3 at Appalachian State University.

Author Andrew Solomon opens University Forum Series

BOONE—Award-winning author Andrew Solomon opens the University Forum Series Oct. 10 at Appalachian State University. His 7 p.m. talk in the Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts is free and open to the public. The Schaefer Center, formerly Farthing Auditorium, is located on Rivers Street.

Blue Mountain Student Documentary Festival to be held April 18

BOONE—The fourth annual Blue Mountain Documentary Festival will present 10 student documentary projects Thursday, April 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Appalachian State University’s Belk Library Room 114. The event is free and open to the public.
